There are a lot of different things that are going on in the world right now, but a lot of us know people here in Sedalia who either immigrated from or have family in the Ukraine.

Sedalia has a huge population of Ukrainians, and it can be hard to watch what's happening in the news, feeling like there's not a lot you can do to help them. Here's another opportunity to do just that! This April, the Community Blood Center has partnered with Global Blood Fund to give hope to Ukrainian refugees. They will donate $1 for every donor who signs up to donate in support Of Ukraine!

Thirty-seven percent of the population is eligible to donate blood, but only about seven percent actually donate.  Approximately 60 percent of collections come from Blood Drives chaired by volunteers at schools, churches, organizations, and businesses. More than 1,500 chairpersons helped organize these drives last year. Donating blood is one of easiest ways to support your community. Your donation will save the life of an individual right here, right now.

If you have never donated blood before, you are probably wondering what you can expect. Although the actual blood draw takes only a few minutes, the entire donation process may take an hour or more.  All you have to do is sign in, they do a mini physical, and then you donate.  It's pretty simple, and you need to do it!

And, you'll have the added bonus of helping those in need in the Ukraine, while your actual blood still helps your neighbors, family, friends, co-workers, cancer patients, who ever needs it. Now, you're probably wondering where you can go to do this - I've got that info, too!
