The Lady Gremlins traveled to Chilhowee on Tuesday, where they competed in some long sets with lots of rallying, big digs and great saves going back and forth between the Gremlins and Indians. 

Senior Sammy Altena dominated the offense with a career-high of 27 kills.  While Senior Emily Hesse had an outstanding evening on defense with 16 digs and several VERY big saves that kept the Grems from losing the point.

Sophia Carney led in serving with 23 serves, 5 aces, and 15 points for the Gremlins.  Freshman Kynslee Prewitt followed with 20 serves, 3 aces, and 12 points. Ellie Coruna and Avery Epple each had 15 serves, 2 aces, and 8 points from the serving line.
Setter Avery Epple had a career game-high of 37 assists thanks to a strong performance from her teammates, Altena added 17 assists. Kills from the Grems; Altena 37, Carney 12, Epple and Bailee Vogel 5, Hesse 4, and Emilee Jackson 3.

With long rallies and lots of digs there was lots of action defensively on both sides of the net.  Epple led the team with 20 digs followed by Hesse with 16 and Carney with 14.

It was a game with lots of back and forth, digging, blocking, hitting; girls on both sides of the court touching the ball a lot tonight.  It was a long Varsity game, but after a first set loss 21-25 the Grems fixed errors and took the next three 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.

After Varsity played JV warmed up and was ready to go, beating the Lady Indians in two 25-18, 25-16.  Sophomore Mary Butner led JV with 7 kills and 6 aces, followed by Kieran Cahill with 5 aces, and Molly Brown 5 kills.
