Believe it or not, Missouri's favorite fast food place, is #1 in Missouri only. That's not the only surprise.  Our "favorite" fast food place, at least according to Finance Buzz, the website that did the research may surprise you. Then again, maybe not.

Here's how Finance Buzz figured out the favorite fast food joint in each state. They collected popularity data using metrics like search volume and number of restaurant locations for nearly 70 major fast-food chains throughout the United States.

I was surprised to learn that 30 restaurants took the top spot in at least one state. Wendy's and Sonic were tops in five states each, tying for the top spot. That was followed by Jimmy John's and Subway which were the only other restaurants that were favorites in more than two states.

Nope. None of those were tops in Missouri. Jimmy John's was tops in Illinois and Iowa, and Sonic in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. So what is Missouri's favorite fast food joint? Taco Bell.

At first, I was rather surprised. I mean Taco Bell isn't my definition of good Mexican food. I'm not sure if I'd consider it Mexican food at all. Not that it isn't good. It's sort of like Olive Garden, which I wouldn't consider "authentic" or "real" Italian food. That said, sometimes, Olive Garden's Tour of Italy is what I'm craving even if it isn't authentic. I think you can say the same thing about Taco Bell.

Then, in my small corner of Missouri, what is one of the most popular types of restaurants? Mexican. The ammount of Mexican joints in Sedalia and Warrensburg is amazing, for our population. So yeah, maybe, sometimes folks have a craving for a Crunchwrap Supreme with a Baja Blast and an order of Cinnamon Twists. When you think about it that way Taco Bell being tops in Missouri makes a lot of sense.
