Two men from California, MO were recently arrested on burglary and drug charges after an investigation by the Moniteau County Sheriff's Office.

A press release from the Moniteau County Sheriff indicates that on July 28, deputies conducted a vehicle stop on Roache Street in California, MO for an equipment violation.

The driver, 33-year old Eric Miller, had a suspended license. Deputies arrested Miller for the infraction and reportedly observed him become "very nervous." The press release says deputies requested a consent to search the vehicle. Methamphetamine, marijuana, scales, paraphernalia, and packaging materials used for the sale of drugs were reportedly located.

Deputies had already been investigating several thefts in the California, MO area and questioned Miller, who said he may have some property at his residence that may be stolen. Authorities were granted a consent to search the residence and located methamphetamine and marijuana, along with items reported as stolen.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the remainder of the property. They located more stolen items from California, MO and Cooper County.

During the investigation, deputies learned of another suspect in the thefts, 33-year old Matthew P. Bishop. Upon contact with Bishop, he was found to have active warrants for his arrest from Carthage, MO. Bishop was arrested for the burglaries in California as well.

Miller is facing two counts of 2nd Degree Burglary and Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth), with a $50,000 bond.

Bishop is facing two counts of 2nd Degree Burglary and Obstructing Police/Shoplifting/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia from Carthage.
