4 Events Happening On St Patrick's Day In Sedalia

If you're looking for a little extracurricular activity on St Paddy's Weekend, here you go.

1. The St Patrick's Day Parade.

The whole thing starts with the Parade itself. It's run by the local VFW post 2591, and it'll be down the traditional downtown Sedalia route. You know, all along Ohio. Most people will probably congregate around the Courthouse. That starts at 11. As to what the parade will entail, the VFW's Facebook page says,

Join in the fun of an old fashioned parade with candy and goodies for the young and young at heart.

Then, right after the parade, you have the bed races.

2. Sedalia Lion's Club Bed Races.

After the parade, at noon on the 14th, is when the Bed Races will start. And it turns out they've got some serious prize money for a bunch of different categories this year. According to the Lion's Club Facebook page, here are the different details:

Place - 200 cash prize
Place - 100 cash prize
Place - 50 cash prize
Best Decorated Bed - 100 cash prize
Best Team Spirit - 50 cash prize

It’s only $25 to enter if you sign up online before the day of the race, $40 to enter the day of the races. And hey, if you go all out and show a lot of spirit, your team could win a nice little chunk of change while having some fun.

3. The Sedalia Lion's Club Pub Crawl.

Basically you can check in as soon as you get there for the parade at the Fox Theater, but the whole shebang won't start in earnest until after the bed races. There's a little more you need to know if you're going to participate in the Pub Crawl. Here's the information:

All participants receive a refillable 14oz. cup, one free drink at the Lions Club of Sedalia - Missouri / County Distributing Company Beer Trailer, a pub crawl map and some festive beads. The cup also gets you drink specials at all Official Pub Crawl Drink Stops within the barricades and allows you to have your drink outside on the streets within those barricades. All participants receive free entries into the BIG prizes ! Cost General Admission : $25 + 1 free drink ticket at the Lions Club Beer Trailer + 1 free prize entry

Looks like the big prize is a 30 quart, fully stocked Polaris cooler. They're going to draw for it at 5:00 p.m., but you don't have to be there to win.

4. St Patty's Party at the Lantern House.

We are having a sham rock and roll which is a wide variety of music with six different artists performing starting at 6 PM till about 1 AM. We will have several different contest going on that all require the color green obviously. Different drink specials different games and fun things to do!
