5 Reasons I Randomly Love Bill Hader

I'm a nerd.  I think we can all accept this fact about me. In particular, I'm a comedy nerd.  I like obscure stuff, I like weird stuff, I like silly stuff. And one actor in particular hits the spot for me in all those categories, and you might not even know his name, or his face, or any of his stuff.  What a time to be alive for you, I'm about to educate you on the brilliance of Bill Hader, in my Five Reasons I Randomly Love Bill Hader.

1.  He's hilarious.

He was a cast member on Saturday Night Live for many years, and was recently on the show in a little cameo when John Mulaney hosted.

Edited to add: I can't believe I forgot this one.  This is insanely hilarious.

2.  He's weird.

I appreciate anybody who is just...a little bit different. I guess it's just because I acknowledge my own weirdness, and I appreciate that in other people.

And, who the heck has an Alan Alda impression? Not only an Alan Alda impression, but a Creepily Good Alan Alda impression? Only someone like him.

3.  He's a great writer.

I'm totally in love with his TV show Barry.  He's responsible for writing and sometimes directing the show.  It's very funny, but very dark, and there are some really dramatic moments in it.  I can't wait for the new season.

He also writes and acts in a show that's in the deep cable territory called Documentary Now! that is also just amazing.

4.  He's a really good actor.

You'd think a movie with Kristen Wiig would be a comedy by default, but The Skeleton Twins is NOT.  It's got funny moments, but it's a very moving drama, and they both do a great job of making you forget how funny they are. Probably don't watch that at work though, there's swears. I don't think I've seen a movie of his that was bad.

5.  He's humble/cute.

I like that he's open about his anxiety. I like his attitude in life.  And he's got a little bit of a lazy eye, which is somehow charming to me. He's from the midwest, so he never really comes across as a jerk.

So there you have it.  I'm a nerd and I'm nerding out for you about somebody I just like. That's it.  As you were.
