In a story from DSJNow.com, UCM's marching band, the Marching Mules, is in the process of raising funds for new uniforms. With their regular efforts towards their goal for a new look, an anonymous donor contributed the $50,000.

According to the article:

Director of Bands Anthony Pursell said the average life-span for a band uniform is seven to 10 years and the current uniforms are in their 13th season.

The goal for the University of Central Missouri Marching Band's fundraiser is $200,000. The band has set their deadline for October 15. The ultimate goal is the ability to purchase 375 new uniforms.

UCM, originally know as The State Normal School, started with their first band in 1899.  It was not until 1915 that the band had their first uniforms. The Marching Mules perform for home football games and the annual homecoming parade.
