A Definite Change in the Weather in the Next 36-48 Hours

It's a new year and it's the first winter storm to make us realize that we really are in January in Missouri.

A winter storm is likely this weekend and will bring with it a multitude of hazards. From Friday night through Saturday evening, freezing rain amounts could be as high as a couple tenths of an inch. The freezing rain is expected change to snow from north to south late Friday night into Saturday with the heaviest snow amounts through Sunday morning in northeastern Missouri.

A chance of showers or drizzle between 7am and 3pm, then showers likely after 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 60. Breezy, with a south southwest wind 19 to 24 mph decreasing to 13 to 18 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 47. South southwest wind 7 to 11 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Showers. Temperature rising to near 50 by noon, then falling to around 41 during the remainder of the day. North northeast wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Rain showers, freezing rain and sleet, possibly mixed with snow showers before 3am, then snow showers, possibly mixed with freezing rain and sleet between 3am and 4am, then snow showers, possibly mixed with freezing rain after 4am. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 23. Blustery, with a north wind 11 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
