Adolfo Suarez, a student in State Fair Community College’s Industrial Electrical Maintenance Apprenticeship program, has been awarded the Outstanding Apprentice of 2018 by the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

Suarez is on the maintenance staff at ConAgra Frozen Foods in Marshall and will graduate May 2019.

ConAgra, SFCC instructors and Apprenticeship Director Lori Blalock nominated Suarez for the award because of his outstanding attendance and progress through the Apprenticeship program. He has become a leader on his shift and increased his working knowledge of fundamental process systems. Suarez has developed strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and improved communication with supervisors and peers.

Nominators said, “Adolfo has a strong work ethic, works well with others, has an eagerness to learn, and shows great enthusiasm for the apprenticeship program.”

“Adolfo is a hardworking student-apprentice with a bright future,” said Blalock. “Apprenticeships bring together job-related instruction with on-the-job experience, and Adolfo and ConAgra are a classic example of how companies and employees can benefit from this type of training.”
