The 2017 Missouri State Fair had record-setting attendance, a great grandstand lineup, and nearly perfect weather...except for one night. A concert featuring the Southern Uprising Tour (Travis Tritt, The Charlie Daniels Band, The Marshall Tucker Band and The Outlaws) was cancelled due to a heavy thunderstorm that passed through Sedalia on August 16, 2017. This year, the Southern Uprising Tour will try again to put on a show at the Pepsi Grandstand.

"Unfortunately, last year, we cancelled that concert," said Missouri State Fair Director Mark Wolfe. "We have a meteorologist from the National Weather Service out of Pleasant Hill. We've been very fortunate. They send their staff down here and they're here on the grounds all day, each day. That is a huge asset to us to help us make decisions and keep the public safe. The information we get from them is up-to-the-minute. It helps us make much better decisions, and has just been a huge asset to the fair over the last three or four years to have them on site."

The 2018 Southern Uprising concert at the Missouri State Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, August 15. Premium track tickets are $57, regular track tickets are $47, premium grandstand tickets are $42 and regular grandstand tickets are $37. The Missouri State Fair Box Office is open 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. during the fair. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster online or by phone at 800-796-6776/800-745-3000.

August 15 is also Senior Appreciation Day. Visitors can get $2 off adult & senior gate admission with a special front page sticker available in the Sedalia Democrat. Admission is also $5 after 5 p.m. August 12-16.
