America’s Favorite Hot Dog Topping is Mustard . . . And Our Least Favorite is Tomatoes?!

Now that we're back in the grind after our lovely holiday, I'm sure your tummy is remembering all those great hot dogs you ate yesterday.

Which is great, because this is apparently the ideal time to eat a hot dog or two. Americans are still pretty OLD SCHOOL when it comes to what we put on our hot dogs.

Apparently, July is National Hot Dog Month.  I hate to sound like a cynic, but that sounds like a made-up holiday.  Like "Auto Safety Month" or "Columbus Day."

I've got the results here from a survey on Americans' favorite hot dog toppings.  And our top four are still VERY OLD SCHOOL.  Mustard came in first followed by ketchup, onions, and relish.

Chili was fifth and especially big in the South.  That was followed by sauerkraut, which is biggest in the Northeast . . . cheese, which is biggest in the West . . . and pickles, which are biggest in the Midwest.

Tomatoes came in last place. I guess that's a Chicago thing? I don't know if I've seen a tomato on a hot dog before. Maybe I'm just not worldy enough.

The survey also found only 9% of Americans say they never buy hot dogs.  Dirty Commies. Who are these people? You have to have hot dogs at least once a year, right? Or are these the mooches who always go to the barbecue, but never buy anything themselves? Who knows.
