Dr. Brad Anders was successful in unseating incumbent Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond on Tuesday by a very narrow margin.

With all 14 precincts reporting, Independent Anders ended up with 50.84 % of the vote, while Republican Bond had 48.98%, or 9,485 to 9,138, a difference of 347. There were 32 write-in votes for sheriff.

Election Day saw a turnout of 71 percent, according to Pettis County Election Authority Nick La Strada. He had predicted an 80 percent turnout a couple of weeks ago. La Strada said that this was the largest turnout in Pettis County history. The final results were posted online by 8:29 p.m.

There were a total of 19,173 ballots cast out of 27,011 registered voters in Pettis County.
