Been Taking Covid-19 Seriously? If Not, You Better Start

I'm writing this as I'm seeing more and more cases of the coronavirus not only across the country but also in Pettis County.

I was talking with Randy Kirby this morning. I brought up the topic of the Pettis County Health Center closing. I asked him if he had heard why. He said that he wondered if it was that they were overwhelmed with the number of cases walking into their facility. He told me a number that blew me away. As of Monday, November 9, there are 853 active cases in Pettis County. I asked him to repeat that number. 853. Let that sink in. Earlier in the year we were seeing that number hovering around the 100 mark.

Another number that he threw out at me was there are currently 23 cases hospitalized at Bothwell Regional Health Center. The last time I really paid attention to that number, there were less than half a dozen in the hospital.

In my opinion it's time we stepped and took this seriously. If it's something you've already been doing, good for you. If not, maybe it's time to take a hard look and change some of your habits.

Maybe it's time to strap on a mask when you're out in public, stay away from large groups of people, and keep that hand sanitizer close. The reason I say this is I'd hate to hear of the aforemetioned numbers jump higher in Pettis County.

So take a step back and look at what you've been doing to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. If it hasn't been much, maybe it's time to do so.
