Sedalia is very familiar with the sounds of Ragtime Music.  After all, we've had the Scott Joplin Festival every year and there are so many reminders of it all over town, you might actually see something about it every day.  It gets easy to take it for granted.  But then, all you need is a stirring performance... and your appreciation can get refreshed. That's where this upcoming concert and dinner will come into play.  Now back for the 16th year in Blackwater, the talented Bob Milne  will present two Ragtime Concerts.   Bob Milne is considered to be the best ragtime pianist in the world. He was filmed and documented  in 2004 during three days of interviews at the Library of Congress, and was declared a “National Treasure” at the conclusion. Mr. Milne is an active “Musical Ambassador” for the United States Dept. of State, and has performed numerous times in Japan, including the Okinawan Islands and Hokkaido. He has also performed in this capacity for members of the Swiss Parliament at the U.S. Embassy in Berne.  And now, he's coming back to Blackwater, so you don't want to miss these shows.  I got to talk with one of the organizers of the concert and dinner, Mark Danner, about the show and how you can get tickets.

The show will take place on Saturday, December 13 and Sunday December 14th at 2:30 p.m.  at the West End Theater, 301 Dodderidge Avenue.   There will also be a smoked pork chop meal with all the trimmings on Saturday at the Depot from noon to 1:00 p.m. The meal costs $14, and the concert costs $14.  For reservations for either, call Mark at 660-888-2300.  You can also find out more information at www.bobmilne.com.
