Help cheer on the next generation of community leaders as Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri hosts a virtual Youth of the Year event, presented by Inter-State Studio & Publishing Co.

The event will be streamed on Facebook Live beginning at 6 p.m., January 19.

“Youth of the Year is a favorite event because it showcases our incredible members and their personal stories of what Boys & Girls Club means to them,” said Executive Director Gary Beckman. “It was a difficult decision to host a virtual event rather than in person, but we wanted to ensure the health and safety of all our members and their families.”

Youth of the Year is the Club’s premier youth recognition program, which honors outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school, community and Club, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome. To be named a Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can achieve.

Fifteen Boys & Girl Club members will compete to be named Youth of the Year in the elementary, junior and teen age categories. The livestream will include speeches from the junior and teen categories; Youth of the Year judges will separately watch pre-recorded videos of the elementary category.

Youth of the Year, presented by Inter-State Studio & Publishing Co. will be livestreamed on the Club’s Facebook page, beginning at 6 p.m., January 19. For more information, call 660-826-8331.
