Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year Winners Announced

The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri, Inc., announced its 2024 Youth of the Year winners Tuesday night.

Evelyn was the winner in the Elementary category (ages 6-9) out of 10 candidates.

Samaya was the winner in the Junior category (ages 10-13) out of seven candidates.

Dottie was the winner in the Teen category (age 14 and older) out of two candidates.

Candidates from all the club sites competed in interviews and speeches.

The event was held at the Heckart Performing Arts Center on the Smith-Cotton campus, 2010 Tiger Pride Blvd. The event was sponsored by Inter-State Studios.

Samaya and Dottie will go on the compete at the Missouri State Youth of the Year event in April.

Each year, one exceptional Club member is selected to be the Youth of the Year, serving as an ambassador for Boys & Girls Club youth as well as a voice for all of our young people.

Last year's winner, Ishmail B., from Teen Center of Excellence Club, received a $5000 scholarship & car.

On a side note, the BGC announced its January Staff Nenbers if the Month on Thursday, including MadisonHorman at Skyline, Delaney Gerken at Green Ridge and Izzy Arnold at The Club in Sedalia.
