Christian Rock Is Back in the Grandstand Tuesday, August 16
The Missouri State Fair announced another State Fair Grandstand Stage concert this morning, this being the popular Christian Rock show that was missing from last year's fair lineup.
Contemporary Christian rock group Casting Crowns will headline the concert Tuesday, August 16 at the Missouri State Fair. Casting Crowns is touring this summer in support of their new album "Healer" which features the title track, along with "Scars In Heaven," "Desert Road," and "2nd Opinions."
Supporting Casting Crowns on this show will be the acclaimed Irish American Band We Are Messengers.
Casting Crowns was the most popularly cited Christian Rock band you told us you wanted to see play at the Missouri State Fair in 2022, according to our poll on the subject released last September. So I would expect this to be a very well attended concert.
Tickets on the track will be priced at $30 and tickets in the grandstand will be $25. Tickets do not include fair admission and convenience charges are not figured in the ticket price. Tickets for all shows go on sale through Etix at 9:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, June 28. And the Missouri State Fair Box Office will be open at Noon for walk-up orders while tickets remain.
Casting Crowns is the third show announced by the Missouri State Fair so far, here's a look at the line-up:
Thursday, August 11 - Trace Adkins with Lonestar
Friday, August 12 - Not Yet Announced
Saturday, August 13 - Not Yet Announced
Sunday, August 14 - Not Yet Announced, traditionally not a concert
Monday, August 15- Not Yet Announced, traditionally not a concert
Tuesday, August 16 - Casting Crowns with We Are Messengers
Wednesday, August 17 - ZZ Top (An interesting note, any reference to a TBA opening act for this show is no longer on the State Fair website.)
Thursday, August 18 - Not Yet Announced
Friday, August 19 - Not Yet Announced
Saturday, August 20 - Not Yet Announced
Sunday, August 21 - Not Yet Announced, traditionally not a concert
With all four weekend dates still not announced, and two really good artists in Casting Crowns and ZZ Top booked for weeknight shows, the bar is set pretty high for the Fair to bring the goods concert-wise for those weekend shows. It wouldn't surprise me to see Colter Wall get slotted into one of them as a make-good for last year's canceled show. And our own Tyler Farr is out touring this summer so it wouldn't be much of a surprise to see him wind up being slotted into that Thursday, August 18 slot.
We'll just have to see what happens.
