The City of Sedalia issued the following notice late Friday afternoon:

"Residents within the utility billing cycle known as the third district (those with a typical due date of the 10th of the month) might have noticed that their bills were much less than normal this month.

That is because there was an undetected system limitation on meters being read in one month but applying charges in a subsequent month. This resulted in those customers only being charged for the base rates and no charges that are based on consumption were included.

The Finance Department has sent out a separate billing statement which included only the amounts due which are based on water consumption. The due date for the bills has been extended to January 23, 2021.

If you have signed up online to have your payments automatically withdrawn from your bank account, our software provider has advised that you may need to make a separate one-time payment for the second bill amount as the system can only recognize one bill per month.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused.

Should you have any questions regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact the Utility Billing Division of the Finance Department at (660) 826-1234."
