City crews are working today removing downed tree limbs and branches from public property and City streets after last nights storms. They also have come up with a plan for citizens to dispose of storm debris from their private property. This according to a public service announcement provided to Townsquare Media Sedalia from the City. If you have storm debris you need removed from your property here are your options:

  • Take it to the City of Sedalia Materials Management Site, 27822 Highway U, between 7:00AM - 5:30PM CDT. The site is open every day off the week and is only closed on holidays.

Residents who cannot take storm debris to the Materials Management Site have a couple of options for pick up by the City. Both options require residents to place tree limbs, branches and other vegetative debris between the curb and sidewalk in front of their house.

  • Areas that have not yet been serviced by the City for their spring Clean Sweep week can put debris out as part of that program. For more information on the spring Clean Sweep program click here.
  • The City of Sedalia will be picking up storm debris placed between the curb and sidewalk on Monday's between now and June 29. Residents west of Ohio will be served on Monday June 8 and Monday June 22. East of Ohio will be served on June 15 and June 29.

Taking a look at our storm chances over the next several days: NOAA doesn't expect any severe weather tonight, however, late tomorrow afternoon or evening there is a chance for isolated storms with large hail and high winds. Then, early next week we may experience the remnants of a tropical system which cause some flooding issues on Tuesday.

So there's a chance we'll be back out cleaning up more vegetation and downed tree limbs and branches over the weekend.
