Westley Reid, 27, of Clinton, was sentenced March 5 in the Circuit Court of Pettis County, before the Honorable Jeff Mittelhauser for his role as the driver in the fatal vehicle crash that took the life of Zachary Hancock-Bottom at the intersection of 65 Hwy and 32nd Street March 1, 2020.

On Jan. 12, the defendant pled guilty as charged in lieu of his pending trial set to begin Jan. 20, with both parties reserving the right to argue the appropriate disposition.

After hearing from both parties the defendant was sentenced to the following terms of incarceration:

Count 1, murder in the second degree - 20 years in the Department of Corrections;
Count 2, driving while intoxicated resulting in the death of another - 12 years in the Department of Corrections;

Count 3, tampering with a motor vehicle - 5 years in the Department of Corrections;

Count 4, Resisting Arrest – 3 years in the Department of Corrections.

The sentences of counts 3 and 4 were ordered to run consecutive with each other and consecutive to those of counts 1 and 2.
