Looking for a great family activity this weekend? Cole Camp is celebrating Missouri's Bicentennial with a free old time picnic in the park Sunday, June 13.

The old time picnic promises something fun for everyone, and if  you're not careful you might learn a little bit about our state's history too.

Those who come out to the picnic will get to experience a few of Missouri's symbols that have been adopted over the years like the Bluebird, the dogwood tree and the catfish. You can have your picture taken with real Missouri Mule. That is, if he isn't being stubborn.

There's also some good ol' fashioned picnic like events. If your child has a turtle, Missouri's designated reptile, he or she can enter it in the turtle race at 5:00PM CDT. If dancing's more your thing, join in the square dance with a professional caller. This also happens at 5:00PM CDT. At 7:15PM CDT you can dance the Missouri Waltz on the Old Balltown Bridge.

And don't forget pie. I mean what's a picnic without pie and ice cream, right? The best bakers in Cold Camp have made six different pies which you can bid at during the pie auction at 7:00PM CDT on the bridge.  And yes there will be ice cream too.

There's music as well, including fiddle playing from Travis Inman and the Dill Band. Along with music from Brent Harms and Clay Clear.

The picnic is happening in Ezekiel Williams Park and runs from 4:30PM - 8:00PM. Hotdogs, Hamburgers, Pulled Pork Nachos and chips will be available for purchase during the event. For more information check out the Old Time Picnic in the Park Facebook Event Page.
