If you were a fan of Payless Shoes this news may excite you. Payless ShoeSource may make a comeback in the United States.

The business website Chain Store Age in a post talking about Payless ShoeSource exiting bankruptcy mentions that the store's owners may try to re-enter the market. Their article quotes new CEO  CEO Jared Margolis as saying:

We intend to leverage Payless’ existing infrastructure, which is best in class and already includes product design & development, distribution, marketing, and a strong relationship with major footwear manufacturers. Thus, providing the new Payless with the ability to be nimble, innovative, and to fast-track our biggest growth opportunity: The United States.

Whether or not Payless comes back to Sedalia proper, or Warrensburg, remains to be seen. What seems like a given, at least from the CEO's statement is that Payless Shoe Source will be back and back in a big way. And it makes sense. While I can't say I ever got that excited about going to Payless, I bought several pairs of shoes there over the years and most were affordable and comfortable. I don't know about you, but that's what I want in a pair of shoes.

Payless filed for bankruptcy in February of 2019 and closed all their stores in North America. That said, the company and their franchisees own over seven hundred stores in thirty countries. So yeah it makes sense they'd want to re-enter the United States shoe store market.

What do you think? Would you like to see Payless back in Sedalia?
