Councilwoman Megan Page will soon be purchasing a home outside of the Sedalia city limits.

Per Missouri State Statute, a person must be an inhabitant of the city to serve in the role of councilman.

Therefore, Megan Page will conclude her role as a City Council member at the July 6, 2020 City Council meeting. Councilwoman Page has faithfully represented Sedalia’s Fourth Ward as well as the entire city for over three years.

“Being on the Sedalia City Council is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done,” said Page. “I have loved being a part of seeing our city grow and change. I have enjoyed getting to know so many people and working with people across the state, county and city. I love this city and am forever grateful that I am able to raise my family here."

Mayor John Kehde stated, “Megan took the responsibility of her council position seriously. Her perspective on issues was often different than mine which created some healthy debates, but by the end of the day, we would remain respectful of each other’s positions. The standing joke among her fellow council members was what would Megan bring for a snack tonight. During a presentation, you would often hear Megan opening a soda can or a bag of snacks which was distracting but humorous. We’ll miss her leadership and friendship."

In instances where a council member is unable to complete his/her term, the sitting mayor is authorized to select a Sedalia citizen to complete the remainder of that vacated term.

Mayor Kehde will issue a news release regarding the selection of the new council member at a later date.
