Do You Remember Your First Vehicle?

Don't get me wrong, technology is great, but I sure miss some of the cars and trucks from days past. My recollections of vehicles I drove as a teenager always bring back great memories. 

My first vehicle was a 1964 Chevy Nova. You didn't need a key to start it. Now I don't know if this was by design by the General Motors' engineers. In fact, most likely not. It's not like the vehicles of today that also don't require you use a key to start it. (Thank you, Mr FOB) No, I think this was just one of the oddities that took place with this vehicle. 

It was a three-speed on the column. It had a leaky oil pan, so I would pull into the gas station and fill up the oil and check the gas. (By the way did I say this fantabulous car set me back the sultry sum of $400.00?)

My second vehicle was a 1974 Pontiac Ventura. This was the Pontiac version of the Chevy Nova. It also was a great car. Took it on a road trip to New Mexico, survived a radiator blow-out in western Texas and limped back to Missouri with it.

Of course now days, Pontiacs are history as are the days of the American Motor Corporation/AMC (who could forget the Pacer?) and Oldsmobile. There are many more car companies and models that have dotted the highways through the years that are no longer with us.
