Election Day Tuesday Will Have Lunar Eclipse? Yes It Will!

November 8th 2022 will be election day.  It may be one of the most voted on mid-term elections in the history of our country.  Hopefully all of you have your legal photo ID and will be voting.  We may not know the results of the mid-terms for quite a few days, if you happen to be up a little later, you may want a break, and you should check out the sky.  Something will happen that will not happen again for 3 years.

The total lunar eclipse will be visible throughout North America in the predawn hours — the farther west, the better — and across Asia, Australia and the rest of the Pacific after sunset. As an extra treat, Uranus will be visible just a finger's width above the moon, resembling a bright star.

Known as a blood moon, it will appear a reddish-orange from the light of Earth's sunsets and sunrises. At the peak of the eclipse, the moon will be 242740 miles (390,653 kilometers) away, according to NASA scientists. Binoculars and telescopes will enhance viewing, provided the skies are clear.

We did have a lunar eclipse earlier this year in May.  Did any of you happen to see it or take pictures?  If you happen to be an early riser like myself, you will be able to look up in to the sky around 4:16am Tuesday morning to 5:41am as Earth passes directly between the moon and sun.

We will not see another one until the year 2025.  I may be able to see it on my drive to work.  Maybe Randy will take some pictures for us.
