State Fair Community College’s Missouri Small Business Development Center (SBDC), The LearningForce and the University of Central Missouri will host a no-cost Electric Arc Safety training 2-5 p.m. April 19 in Thompson Conference Center on the Sedalia campus in Heckart Center.

The training was developed and funded under OSHA Susan Harwood Grant and is available only to participants from small businesses (250 employees or less). Seating is limited, and registration is required.

This interactive training provides participants with knowledge of electric arc behavior and injury prevention by using laboratory and real-life arc videos. Participants will learn the different types of electric arcs and hazards and the fundamentals of protection. Upon successful completion of the training and evaluations, participants will receive training certificates in accordance with the OSHA grant requirements.

Even though there is no cost for the session, participants need to register by 8 a.m. April 19 at https://missouri.ecenterdirect.com/events/23646. For assistance or additional information, contact Kelly Asbury, SBDC director, at kasbury1@sfccmo.edu (660 596-7350}, or UCM faculty Steve Bloess at bloess@ucm.edu (660-281-4154) or Miaozong Wu at miawu@ucmo.edu (660-543-4411). Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance.
