'First Fridays' will kick-off again next month at the Katy Depot.

The Katy Depot has been featuring the 'First Friday' events for four years. These are monthly programs that feature a speaker portraying a historic American or a speaker discussing a historic topic of interest.

In past years, the Depot has hosted a number of great Americans including Presidents Truman, Lincoln, Jefferson and Teddy Roosevelt, as well as explorers like Merriwether Lewis and even the notorious local madame, Lizzy Cook.

This year’s guests include a freed slave discussing her life, a president giving an art history talk, the son of the famous Native American, Sacajewa, discussing his many adventures, and a great grandson of a Sedalia ragtime legend

Refreshments will be served at 5:30 and presentations follow at 6 p.m. for 'First Fridays.' These events are open to the public, but seating is limited and reservations are required. A $5 suggested donation will be taken at the door and reservations can be made by calling (660) 826-2932.

'First Fridays' begin April 7, for the 2017 season. The events will be held in April, May, and June. Then again from August till September.
