The Sedalia School District Foundation presents its annual basketball fundraiser at Smith-Cotton High School on January 26. Sedalia All-Stars will play against Flight Squad, an exhibition basketball team consisting of former professional athletes and Division 1 players.

"We're really excited to invite Flight Squad to Sedalia," said Matt LaCasse. "We do a basketball fundraiser each year to raise funds for the Sedalia School Foundation. This is a fun way to get people to come out, have a good time, see some of their favorite people from around town play some basketball against some people from out of town, enjoy some popcorn, maybe some nachos, and just have a good time."

Local celebrities, law enforcement, school district employees, and pastors will be part of the Sedalia All-Stars team.

The Sedalia School District Foundation supports students and educators by providing scholarships and funds for classroom supplies. "We have probably 35 scholarships that we offer. I think last year it was over $30,000 that we gave in scholarships," said Terri Paul. "Then we have min-grants for teachers, which they use for (things needed in) classrooms."

Tickets for the basketball game are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Children 5 and under are admitted for free. Tickets are available online, or at Pummill's Sporting Goods and Vincent's Footwear and Apparel. Tickets will also be available at the door.
