A Florence boy was killed in a two-car collision that occurred Friday night in Morgan County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2003 Honda Civic, driven by a 16-year-old male from Florence, was on Missouri 135, 396 feet north of the Butterfield Cutoff around 7:30 p.m., when the Civic crossed the center line and struck a southbound 2020 Ford F-350, driven by 46-year-old Dennis L. Mefford of Versailles.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:15 p.m., by Morgan Coroner Dr. M. B. Jones. The body was taken to Scriver-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover.

Caleb was a sophomore at Morgan County R-1 High School in Stover.

Mefford suffered minor injuries and was transported by Mid-Mo Ambulance to Capitol Regional Hospital for treatment.

The Ford had extensive damage, while the Honda was totaled.

Morgan County Deputies assisted the Patrol.

This was Troop F's fourth fatality for October and the 63rd for 2022.
