Before I officially moved to Sedalia, my mother and I came down to check out the town and look for an apartment.  When we drove by Kehde's and my mother said that she wanted to eat inside the train.  Last Friday, it happened for me and my co-workers.  We had lunch with some appetizers and sandwiches.  And yes, I pulled the whistle.

I was first impressed by the vintage luggage in the train car and the old school booths.  A tight fit for 4 people, but big enough to handle us.  We all ordered drinks, and next time I will ask for easy ice.  This way the servers won't have to make multiple trips to refill our glasses.

Our tables shared three apps.  Jalapeno Poppers, Fried Pickles and Fajita Nacho Supreme.  Homemade ranch with the pickles, salsa for the poppers (I would pass on that, get ranch instead), and the nachos were tasty.  Thumbs up.  Maybe cook pickles a hint longer to make them even crispier.

I ordered the Alamo sandwich - Charcoal grilled tenderloin with Swiss cheese, red onions and peppers on a toasted bun with our salsa on the side.  Curly fries.  Tasty sandwich, nice balance of cheese/onions/peppers.  Fries also get thumbs up.  Liked the skin left on.

I believe this is the Cheddar Beef sandwich.  I am not sure who ordered it.  But it looks delicious!  Below is the Prime Rib Sandwich, with onion rings that came with homemade ranch dressing. Can't go wrong with this one.

Above is the Katy Burrito.  A flour tortilla filled with grilled fajita chicken, grilled fajita chicken, grilled portabella mushrooms, grilled red onion, green and red peppers served with shredded lettuce, tomato, salsa and cheese.  Lori got this one.  You can get two meals out of this.  :)

Chicken breast sandwich.  Charcoal grilled or deep-fried, garnished with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, served on a toasted bun.  This one is fried, and could rival ANY of the fast food chicken sandwiches on the market today. I believe Mike went with this option.

Finally the Cattle Car burger.  Charburger with cheddar cheese, special sauce, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion served on Texas toast.  Bekha ordered this one.  She enjoyed it.

My takeaway was this place has such a large menu, that you will have to go back multiple times.  Big portions, homemade dishes, and plenty of options for any palette.  You can order online, they cater, and I understand why this place is so popular. I mean, being in business since 1955 is kind of a big deal.  I think I may get a gift card for my family this Christmas.
