I think I got to this topic because I need a haircut. Well, no. I don't NEED a haircut.  I want a haircut.  I don't like when my hair reaches the back of my collar, and we're getting to that these days. It's not quite long enough to pull up, so it sits there in judgement.  I have a lot of thick, curly hair, and I just don't need to be reminded of that every time I'm trying to just live my life.  Routinely I will see random white hairs on my shirt, or on the couch, and that's enough.  But then of course, my brain wandered, and off to the internet I went. Here's a few things I learned.

1.  Body hair doesn't last as long as the hair on your head.  Your body hair only grows a few inches because it has a lifespan of about six months.  The hair on your head can grow for years.  That's not creepy at all.

2.  Your body hair has muscles.  Believe it or not, your body hair has muscle fibers - it's what makes them stand on end when you get goose bumps. EXPLAINED! Thanks, science!

3.  Body hair might be tied to intelligence.  According to a study from the '90s (super current info, I know), the more body hair you have, the more intelligent you are.  Researchers found that most male Mensa members had more body hair compared to the average guy. So... that explains a lot.  I don't have much body hair.

4.  You can shed up to 150 hairs a day.  The average for most people is around 100. So that means I must be shedding something like 250.

5.  Hair color can be indicative of genetic disorders.  Blondes tend to have a higher percentage of learning disabilities and eye problems, brunettes are more likely to get addicted to smoking, and redheads are more susceptible to pain. Oh, good.  Now that'll never leave my head.  Everytime I meet someone blonde I'm going to wonder if they have ADHD or something.

Admittedly I wrote this when I was a little punchy from a lot of work, but I learned something today.  Do you know anything, any random facts you'd like to share?

Hairily yours,
Behka
