I'm a person who suffers from allergies pretty much all year long. And, I deal with post-nasal drip a lot. Basically I'm a mess. And it's year round, really, but it always gets a little worse in the colder months. So, I have some things that I've researched to try to ease up the constant hacking. See if some of these work for you!

Stay hydrated: Drink lots of water to thin mucus.

Use a humidifier to loosen mucus.  I also have a vaporizer that works nicely.

Saltwater gargle clears mucus from the throat. That's one my Grandmother used to tell me about, and it can work. Just don't over do it, it's kinda gross.

Use honey. It can be used alone in adults and children over 1 year of age, and acts as a cough suppressant. Mix it in some tea . Ginger tea soothes throat inflammation. Mint tea helps as well,it helps loosen mucus in the lungs. Apple cider vinegar (diluted or mixed with honey) helps thin mucus.

This one might be the best one, since we're just out of the holidays: chocolate! Theobromide, and ingredient in chocolate, may actually suppress "vagus nerve activity" that causes coughing.

What are some of your tips to soothe a cough? Comment and let me know what works for you and your family!

Coughingly yours,
Behka
