The Sacred Heart Gremlins defeated Smithton, 4-3, on Friday thanks to a walk-off single. 

The game was tied at three with Sacred Heart batting in the bottom of the eighth when George Bain IV singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

Connor Rice led things off on the hill for the  Gremlins. The pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out six. Alex Karigan got the win on the mound for Sacred Heart in four innings of relief, striking out 6 and allowing one run.

Traven Wheeler, Connor Rice, Carter Rice, Donavan Dobson, Bain IV, and Alex Karigan all had a hit to help Sacred Heart get the win.

SH went on to beat Smith-Cotton, 14-10, on Day 3 of an invitational.

The Grems play Northwest Hughesville today at home.
