The Heckart Community Center will host an art show by local artist Dustin M. Schmidt.

The show will open on Monday, October 17, 2022 and is titled “Food in Film."

The work is inspired by two of Schmidt’s great loves: food and movies. A self-portrait through other portraits, these original pieces feature well known food-centered scenes created in Dustin's signature, photo-realism, style with a focus on pop culture.

All pieces are new, because Schmidt did not want to display "leftovers." “I have enjoyed creating this body of work. I hope when the public sees it, they will enjoy remembering the scenes from these icon films."

Schmidt is a professional painter, small business owner and follows his father and uncle’s footsteps as a journeyman wireman in Kansas City's IBEW LU #124. A Sedalia native, Dustin attended Smith-Cotton High School and SFAVTS- Graphic Arts program where he first developed his photo-realism techniques used in his art.

He currently lives in Sedalia with his wife Emily and two sons.
