Have you ever wanted to buy some of Sue Heckart's antiques? Well on June 28, you will have the opportunity to do just that.

A public auction of her collection of antiques will take place on Tuesday, June 28, at 1709 East Broadway, former site of Cash Saver and East Bings.

CASA of Sedalia will be the beneficiary of the auction, according to Julie Hoffert, director of Development for CASA (Citizens Against Spouse Abuse).

“Sue Heckart has generously donated her and her family's antiques (dating back to the 1800s and spanning three generations) to CASA for an auction,” Hoffert said.

According to CASA Executive Director Lori Haney, Sue Heckart contacted her about a year ago and said she had a lot of antiques stored on the upper floor of Heckart Funeral Home for generations, as well as at her own home.

“She said that since selling the funeral home to Jeff and Megan Page, she wanted to get these things out of their way, and I think, just decided that it was time to let go of some of these items, and she wanted to make sure that if they weren't necessarily going to a good cause, that they could help raise money for a good cause. And for some reason, she picked us,” Haney recalled.

The auction, under the direction of Russ Johnson Auction Services, will begin at 10 a.m. Everything will take place indoors. Haney noted that Johnson has been working with CASA for six years for their annual “In Their Shoes” promotion.

Johnson will also have concessions on site.
