Horace Mann Elementary instructional coach Hilliary Hubbs is the recipient of the Superintendent’s Bell Ringer Award for October.

The monthly award is a way for Superintendent Steve Triplett to honor Sedalia 200 staff members who put the district’s mission statement into action and those who display exemplary effort in celebrating student success. Winners are selected from nominations made by staff members and administrators.

Horace Mann Principal Sara Pannier, who nominated Hubbs, wrote: “Hilliary is starting out her second year as an instructional coach and she has proven to effectively coach our teachers and help foster academic growth. Growth is an understatement! Our MAP scores went from nearly the bottom to the top in three out of four categories. We are ecstatic and our teachers give her all the credit. She is a runner, determined to breed success.”

A co-worker told Pannier that Hubbs is “kind, patient, a listener first and always available to answer any questions. She genuinely and sincerely cares for our entire school. I am enamored with how hard she works to get our kids and our teachers to achieve their highest potential.”

Triplett said, “Instructional coaches are important to the district’s academic mission, yet often they are overlooked in discussions about student and staff success. Ms. Hubbs makes positive impressions throughout Horace Mann each day, which is why I am grateful for the opportunity to recognize her with this month’s Bell Ringer Award.”

Other nominees for September were: Andrew Fischer, Stacey Steinkuhler and Matthew Dillon, Smith-Cotton High School; Gene Cook and Joe Hulsey, Smith-Cotton Junior High; Devon Gilmore, District Central Office; Katie Curry, Allison Burkholder and Charlie Neth, Heber Hunt Elementary; Karina Lopez, Michelle Hofstetter, Sarah Miller and Phelissia Hughes, Washington Elementary; Stacey Morton and Heather Miller, Horace Mann Elementary; Kristen Kenny, Kathy Zink and Stephanie Jackson, Parkview Elementary; and Ethan Sarver and Tracy Siegel, Loftus Early Childhood Center.
