It's been coming for a little bit now.  Slightly runny nose, itchy throat. You know what that means.  It's time to break out the cough drops, get some chicken noodle soup, and start getting out the blankets.  I rarely get sick, but when it does, I'm usually out of commission for a bit. This time doesn't seem too bad, just a slightly runny nose, a little cough, and some congestion.  But did you know that this is the THE time of year to get sick? Apparently this is when all the cool kids do it. Yeah, this is the biggest time of the year for colds.

Slather your entire body in Purell, because the world is desperately trying to infect you right now. A new study found you're more likely to get a cold during the first two weeks of November than any other time of the year.  That happens to be RIGHT NOW.

But that doesn't mean we all feel great the other 50 weeks out of the year.  The study also found that between illnesses, headaches, hangovers, and injuries, the average person only feels 100% healthy 171 days out of the year. That means you spend about HALF your life feeling like something is wrong. This is definitely the worst time of year though.  The average person skips SIX social events in the winter because they're just not feeling up to going.

I get that.  But then, do I ever feel like going out and doing anything?  Rarely.  I guess I can just it as an excuse the next week or so.  I'd better not get too sick, or it'll be a repeat of last Labor Day, when I literally couldn't talk without sounding like death. Or the time when I had to have inhalers to try to get over a particularly bad one.

Have you been hit by a cold this season? What are some of your go-tos when it comes to treating it or making your symptoms better?

Coughingly yours,
Behka
