I Missed The Super Bowl Because I Was Playing A Video Game from Over Twenty Years Ago
Yep, I guess you could say I'm hip to the times.I really did intend on watching the big game this past weekend, though! I thought I might do a blog post about it and be all timely and legit. Turns out I'm a creature of habit.
See, Husbando was heading out for the day to take the girls home and also to go to his Super Nerdy Game with his friends. They meet every other weekend, basically. So when that happened, I immediately went into "I'm Alone" mode.
Which usually means one of two things: either I'm hardcore napping on the couch, or I'm playing a video game. And it's almost NEVER a new game. Every now and then I'll splurge on something new, but 99% of the time it's the old school NES. Even if I buy a new game, chances are pretty good it'll have a stereo-typically Italian plumber with a kickass mustache in it.
I was playing with POWER. I don't know what it is about Mario, but I really like almost every game he's in. I guess it's just sentimentality from my childhood? After all, the original Mario Brothers game came with the NES. So it was bound to be the first game all of us played on that console. But it's not like I haven't played that game a thousand times. What could have been so magical that it made me miss one of the biggest sports spectacles of the year?
So yeah, that happened. I sat down and thought, "I'll just play for a minute..." looked up, and it was 7:30. No Lady Gaga, no Tom Brady, no Hamilton cast, nothin'.
Just me and Mario. I guess it was meant to be.
