I graduated college in 2004.  Before I did, I was hired here at the stations as a part timer. Then after a bit of time where I was learning the ropes, I got promoted to full time.  I was the anchor of the KSIS evening news report.  I was working with people who had been doing this for decades, and the pressure was on.

Since I was the one doing evenings, I had to record several two minute news reports to air throughout the evening. I wanted them to be perfect, so I would record and edit them down.  And one evening, I guess I just got frustrated with myself.  And when I get frustrated with myself, I always go extra with the embarrassment.  So, in 2006, I made a blooper reel of myself trying to record the evening news.

Now here it is, 13 years later, and I stumbled upon it while looking through my audio archive.  I had completely forgotten about it, because to be honest, I don't think much about my "serious news" days.  I'm just not a serious host, sorry.  I tried.  I was meant to be goofy, it's just in my DNA.

So, since I can't NOT share it with you, here it is. But it's the first time I've done something like this, so it's not perfect, and the audio is old, so just enjoy the cringe.

Come ON, me.  Why can't you say "budgeted"? And why is your voice so high?  You're trying to be SERIOUS here.  Lower your pitch.  I kind of wish I could go back to that me and just say, "Look.  You're trying your best, I get it.  Just get out of school mode and do it for real!"

Wow.  Thirteen years ago.  What a different person I am now.  I guess some things haven't changed... sometimes I still can't pronounce words right.  Even words that I wrote!

What do you think?  Did you enjoy my foray into making fun of myself? What were you doing back in 2006?  How have you changed since then?

Budgeted-ily yours,

Behka
