I’m Not Sure If I Believe In Luck These Days

Well, I don't know what I'd call it, but I don't think I'm a lucky person.

I mean, I know things happen sometimes by just a dumb chance. I know sometimes life just does what it does and there wasn't anything to it.  But I think I might be the majority - because it seems like a lot of people believe they themselves are lucky.  Like they have better chances at winning the scratch cards they're buying in front of me at the Casey's store.

Apparently people think no matter how smart and hard working you are, to get your dream job, you still need luck (I just noticed how strange the word "luck" looks to me. I don't know where that came from, but hey).  In a new survey, 84% of people said that luck is necessary to achieve all of your career aspirations.  The survey also found that the majority of people believe with hard work, you can put yourself in a better position to be ready when your lucky break arrives.According to a new survey of 7,000 workers by LinkedIn, you can be the smartest, hardest-working, most incredible employee in the world -but ultimately, you still need luck.

84% of people said that luck is necessary to achieve your dream career aspirations.  That being said -both men and women said you can control your own luck on some level.   I guess that's the part I don't get.  I mean, nothing good happened to me because I had a four leaf clover or something.  And I was never a person who could carry around a rabbit's foot, even a fake one.  Like, Hey, Here's The Body Part Of A Dead Rodent.

71% of men and 68% of women said that having a strong work ethic puts you in position to be ready when your lucky break arrives.   The survey also found that U.S. workers consider themselves the seventh luckiest of any country.  Japanese workers rated themselves the luckiest, South Koreans were second, and Austrians were third.  Australians rated themselves least lucky.

So, I thought I'd ask what you guys thought about all this. Do you believe in luck? Has anything happened to you that you attribute to luck? Do you have good luck charms - and if so, what are they?
