An Independence woman died in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday night in Jackson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, driven by a 16-year-old juvenile from Odessa, was on I-70, just west of the Adams Dairy Parkway around 11 p.m., when the driver encountered a woman standing in the roadway. The driver attempted to swerve, but the front of the vehicle struck 24-year-old Annamarie L. Ramirez of Independence.
