Is Sedalia Participating In The Sales Tax Holiday?

As parents and kids are heading back to school, those school supply costs are getting pretty real.  Every now and then, there's something to help cut back on those costs: The Sales Tax Holiday. According to the Missouri Department of Revenue's website, here's what happens:

By state law, the sales tax holiday begins on the first Friday in August and continues through the following Sunday. Certain back-to-school purchases, such as clothing, school supplies, computers, and other items as defined by the statute, are exempt from sales tax for this time period only.

In 2018, the Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 3, and runs through Sunday, August 5.

So, is Sedalia participating? Sorry, folks, but again, according to the Department of Revenue, the answer is no.  In fact, here's the full list of cities that are not planning to participate (I highlighted ones that are nearby Sedalia).

So what does this mean for you?  Does it mean you'll go to Marshall, Knob Noster, or Warrensburg?  All three of those nearby towns are NOT on the list, which I think means they're opting to participate.  What do you think about all this?
