On Thursday, 27-year-old Jamie T. Williams of Jefferson City, was formally charged in Cole County Circuit Court with second degree murder and flight from perpetration of a felony where a person dies, resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony, felony driving while revoked or suspended, and possession of marijuana.

Williams is being held at the Cole County Jail and the court denied bond.

The charges stem from his involvement in a vehicle pursuit, foot chase, and officer-involved shooting that occurred in Jefferson City on the night of Wednesday, April 15 around 10:20 p.m.

During the incident, Jefferson City police officers were in contact with a passenger in Williams’ vehicle, Anthony J. Wilson, 28, of Jefferson City Gunfire was exchanged between Wilson and the police.

Wilson was killed and an officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a bullet in the chest. The officer was wearing a protective vest at the time and was taken to an area hospital for treatment and released Thursday afternoon.

Pilots with the Patrol’s Aircraft Division located Williams with FLIR (thermal imaging) and successfully directed officers to his hiding location in an overgrown area.

The investigation is ongoing and being conducted by members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.
