The Johnson County Fire Protection District is opening station doors and hosting open houses at 10 of the District’s 12 fire stations on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 2 until 4 p.m.

The District invites the public to attend any of the open houses and encourages area residents to visit their nearest station(s) to meet their local responders and see the stations and firefighting equipment.

“We know many may travel past our stations and wonder what is there, who works there, and what we do,” said Fire Chief Larry Jennings. “We hope many take advantage of this opportunity to visit their nearest stations and meet those who serve them.

“Each station but two will be open,” said Jennings. “Our Station 9 will be participating with their personnel and equipment at Station 2’s open house in Leeton, and our Station 11 will have water rescue equipment displayed at Station 1."

These events are open to the public and light refreshments will be available. A map with station locations is available on the District website.
