Fireworks can't be bought, sold, displayed or shot off in the Sedalia city limits. What about Knob Noster or Warrensburg?

You're not going to have much luck in these communities either. Warrensburg doesn't have a specific fireworks law, instead letting the 2018 International Fire Code cover the question. Simply, the sale of use of fireworks in Warrensburg is prohibited without an operational permit.

In Knob Noster their ordinance prohibts manufacturing, storing, displaying, selling or discharging fireworks in the city, except for a licensed public display authorized by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen. They need to give you a permit otherwise it's no go. In Knob Noster you can be fined $25 -$500 if you violate the ordinance. And any unused fireworks will be confiscated.

Some other interesting facts they provided regarding fireworks:

• Sparklers are not as safe as they seem. They burn up to 1200 degrees.

• Fire calls more than double on the Fourth of July, and two out of every five fires is fireworks related.

• 80% of emergency room fireworks injuries involve fireworks legally available to consumers.

Experts say the best course of action is to leave the fireworks to the professionals. One great show will take place during the SHOW-ME Freedom Festival at the state fairgrounds in Sedalia.
