A 33-year old woman from Johnson County, MO was convicted of manslaughter last week in connection to the death of her husband that occurred in April 2017.

The Kansas City Star reports that Jema Donahue was accused of fatally shooting her husband, 31-year old Javon Donahue, and burying his body in a farm field with the help of her mother and a family friend in April 2017.

At the time of her arrest last year, the Johnson County Sheriff's Office stated that as a result of an excavation, the body of Javon Donahue was unearthed. Upon the discovery of the body, officers then located the suspect at Welch Court in Sedalia.

Donahue was found guilty on numerous counts, including Voluntary Manslaughter, Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful use of a Weapon, Felony Murder, Tampering with Evidence and Abandonment of a Corpse, according to the Star.

Jema Donahue is expected to be sentenced on January 14 in Johnson County.

Earlier this year, Donahue's mother, Margaret G. Heffernan also pleaded guilty to charges in connection to the death and was sentenced in March.

A third suspect in the case, Ricky W. Armstrong, also pleaded guilty to Concealing a Felony and Tampering with Evidence. He was sentenced in August.
