If you're a Chiefs' fan, the news gets even better for the 2020 AFC Champions. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, the 6'5" 321 lb. guard that helped the Chiefs to the Super Bowl victory in 2019, will return to KC for the upcoming season.

After the Chiefs lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in February, some of the players that helped the Chiefs rise to the top in the AFC started disappearing. There were various reasons for the departures. At first it was looking bleak, especially on the offensive line, but then the pieces of the puzzle started falling into place with offseason trades and acquisitions and through the college draft. In my opinion, with the return of Duvernay-Tardif, this is the icing on the cake.

If you remember Duvernay-Tardif decided to bow out last season while the Chiefs were moving forward to defend their 2019 title as the best in the NFL. He chose to put his medical degree to use during the COVID-19 pandemic. After a year off from football, he's ready to return to Arrowhead, but he's grateful for the time and experiences from the hiatus.

From a story on yahoo.com and in a post on his Instagram account, Duvernay-Tardif writes:

“A year ago, I was trading my football helmet and pads for a hospital gown and a pair of gloves”

Information from the yahoo.com story goes on to say Duvernay-Tardif has a Doctorate in medicine and a Masters Degree in surgery from the McGill University Faculty of Medicine, where he graduated in May 2018. He’s spent the last year working in a long-term care facility in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
