A Kansas man was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Monday afternoon in Cass County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2016 Ford F-150, driven by 21-year-old Shawn M. Espy of Luisburg, Kansas, attempted to overtake a vehicle in oncoming traffic on Missouri 2, west of Groh Road at 3:35 p.m., when he struck an eastbound 2013 Volvo semi, driven by 34-year-old Matthew Harris of Harrisonville.

Espy was reportedly killed on scene, and the body was transported by Frontier Medical. Espy was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The Volvo had moderate damage, while the Ford was totaled.

There were a total of six Troopers on scene.
