The Sacred Heart Gremlins defeated the Bunceton/Prairie Home Dragons 17 - 7 on Monday night in the first round of Districts to advance to the semi-finals.

Olivia Dobson got the Gremlins fired up in the first inning when she singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Sacred Heart tallied 15 hits on the night, with Dobson, Peyton Martin, Zoe Martin, Brooke Epple, and Abby Arnold all collecting two hits apiece. Kendra Durham had the biggest hit of the evening with an in-the-park-homerun in the fourth inning.

Keely Elwell started in the circle and was credited with the victory for the Gremlins. She threw two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out three. Kendra Durham and Zoe Martin entered the game out of the bullpen and helped close out the game in relief.

Zoe Martin (shown below) recorded her 100th strikeout of the season during the game.

The Sacred Heart Gremlins are now 8-6 on the season and will next take on the Sweet Springs/Malta Bend Greyhounds on Wednesday, May 11 at 3 p.m.
