Liberty Center’s ‘Christmas Spectacular’ is This Weekend

The Liberty Center Association for the Arts presents its Christmas Spectacular on Friday and Saturday.

"We have a whole array of things from bell choirs to children's youth choirs, to Jazz bands, to One Track Train playing...we've even got live animals in our nativity set," said Anne Barnhart, who is performing alongside her husband, Jeff, who have traveled to Sedalia from Mystic, Connecticut for the show. Jeff Barnhart has been a regular performer at the Scott Joplin Festival for over twenty years.

"The lobby will open at 6:30 for folks to come in and look at our Christmas wonderland," said Jeff Barnhart. "Father Christmas will be there before the show, during intermission, and after the show for any children, or children at heart, to sit down and say 'this is what I want for Christmas.' It's a very special time of year, and it's wonderful to be able to come. When the Liberty Center offered us an opportunity to put together a show involving local groups...that's what's so exciting for us."

Joining Jeff and Anne Barnhart will be Dr. Dave Majchrzak from St. Louis, as well as local acts such as The Wesley United Methodist Church’s Hand Bell Choir, Smith-Cotton High School Jazz Band, Smith-Cotton Junior High Jazz Band, Sacred Heart School Choir, One Track Train, and the live nativity by Ruth Schlomer.

“We are very excited to bring this show to our community and to our area. It will be fun for the entire family. The Barnhart’s tour the country and Europe to share their professional performances. It has been a thrill to work with them on this production. Dr. Majchrzak tours throughout the country performing as well. Getting all of them onstage together will be nothing short of a lot of fun,” says Terri Ballard, Executive Director of the Liberty Center.

"It's a fun, very fast-paced roller coaster ride of a show, with so much going on that it's going to be hard even for me - and I wrote the thing - to keep track of all the things that are happening at once," said Jeff Barnhart.

Tickets are now available for the Christmas Spectacular at The Liberty Center, 111 West 5th Street in Sedalia. Show dates are December 14 and 15, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.
